What are Oracoat XyliMelts?
Oracoat XyliMelts are oral-adhering discs that stick to your teeth or gums to relieve persistent dry mouth. Use XyliMelts during the day or while sleeping and find temporary relief from frequent thirst, sticky dryness in the mouth and throat, and other unpleasant dry mouth symptoms.
Made with xylitol, a natural sweetener that helps stimulate saliva flow, XyliMelts utilise adhering disc technology to slowly release 550 mg of xylitol, which is most effective when continuously released and lingers in the mouth, especially when used while sleeping when saliva flow is lowest.
XyliMelts last for hours, moisturising and coating the mouth for optimal comfort. The mild mint flavor freshens your breath and the xylitol may reduce the risk of tooth decay.
Find Relief from Dry Mouth Caused by:
Medications are a common cause of dry mouth—over 500 medications list dry mouth as a potential side effect. This includes antidepressants, antihypertensives, antihistamines, opioids, diuretics, benzodiazepines, and many other types of prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
Diabetics often experience dry mouth symptoms, typically due to elevated blood sugar and side effects of medications. Dry mouth is both a symptom and cause of high blood sugar. A diabetic’s dry mouth symptoms can lead to widespread tooth decay, resulting in blood sugar increases as the body attempts to fight infection.
Sjogren’s Syndrome is an autoimmune disorder that destroys the glands that produce tears and saliva. As a result, Sjogren’s is commonly known for its two major symptoms: dry mouth and dry eyes. While some patients may require prescription medications or surgery, Sjogren’s can often be controlled with dry mouth remedies like XyliMelts.
What are the Benefits of Xylitol?
The key ingredient is xylitol, a naturally sweet carbohydrate found in raspberries, corn, oats, and other plants. Xylitol cannot be digested by the harmful mouth bacteria that cause tooth decay, gum disease, and infections. Plus, when xylitol lingers in the mouth, it stimulates saliva and may reduce the risk of tooth decay.
Clinical studies suggest that you can maximise the benefits of xylitol by slowly releasing a continuous concentration of xylitol in your mouth. To achieve this with xylitol gum, you’d need to work through 6-9 pieces of gum per day and you would still miss the sleeping hours. XyliMelts help solve this problem by utilising adhering disc technology that releases just the right concentration of xylitol over time—meaning hours of dry mouth relief for you as the disc coats, moisturises, and increases saliva flow, especially while sleeping when dry mouth is worst.
Oracoat Xylimelts Directions For Use
Place the tan adhesive side of disc on the outside of a molar and/or adjoining gums, upper or lower, white side touching cheek. Use your tongue to push the disc to a comfortable spot. Once there, do not touch it with your tongue for 10 seconds, as this movement will disrupt the adhesion.
Before bedtime: Use two (2) discs, placing one on each side of the mouth.
Everyday use: For dry mouth, use more as needed throughout the day.
