Following the step-down programme will let you gradually wean yourself off nicotine so you can quit for good.

• If you smoke less than 10 cigarettes a day, it is recommended that you start with Step 2 for 6 weeks, then move on to Step 3 for 2 weeks.
• Apply one patch to the skin once a day, preferably on waking. Full instructions are given in the enclosed leaflet. 

Your chances of stopping smoking will be improved if you take part in a Smoking Cessation programme.
