What is Dioralyte Rehydration Electrolyte Powder?

Dioralyte Rehydration Electrolyte Powder is an oral rehydration treatment designed to help replace the water and essential body salts lost during episodes of diarrhoea.

Each sachet contains a carefully balanced combination of glucose and electrolytes which, when dissolved in water, creates an oral rehydration solution. Dioralyte can be particularly useful when diarrhoea causes increased fluid loss and there is a risk of becoming dehydrated.

Available in a choice of flavours, with 6 individual sachets per pack.

What is Dioralyte Used For?

Dioralyte is used to help:

Replace fluids lost during diarrhoea
Replace essential body salts and electrolytes
Help prevent and treat dehydration associated with diarrhoea
Restore the body's fluid and electrolyte balance
Provide convenient oral rehydration for adults and children when used as directed

How Does Dioralyte Work?

Diarrhoea can cause the body to lose both water and important salts. Simply drinking water replaces fluid but does not replace all of the electrolytes that have been lost.

Dioralyte contains glucose and electrolytes in carefully balanced quantities to encourage the absorption of water and salts from the digestive system, helping to rehydrate the body.

How to Take Dioralyte

Empty the contents of one sachet into 200ml of fresh drinking water and stir until completely dissolved.

For infants, or where a reliable drinking-water supply is unavailable, freshly boiled and cooled water should be used. Do not boil the solution after the powder has been added.

The amount required will depend on age and individual circumstances, so always follow the dosage instructions provided with the product.
